Announcement of Killegarchess.com Open I

Hello everyone,

To celebrate the start of Killegarchess.com we proudly announce the Killegarhess Open, our first online chess tournament.

Players of all strength are welcome, while it is a serious tournament fun is still the priority!

 

Details

Knock-out Tournament

 

Up to the Quarter-finals 4 games with 30 minutes and 10 seconds per move.

If the match is tied, 2 5 minute games with 5 seconds per move until one player scores 1,5 points.

 

 

Semi-final and Final 6 games with 30 minutes and 10 seconds per move.

If the match is tied, 4 5 minute games with 5 seconds per move until one player scores 2,5 points.

 

Before the Quarter-finals 2 week round time, giving players with tight schedules enough time to play.

 

From the Quarter-finals on 1 week per round.

 

The players can arrange to play over all online chess providers, the default option is FICS.

 

Prizes

The winner receives a copy of the current Fritz version Fritz 12.

Top 4 finishers get custom Forum titles.

 

Coverage

Sean will make video annotations of selected games from the early rounds and cover the complete semi-finals and finals.

Date and Signup

You can sign up via this thread.

You can sign up until 9th September, at the same day we release the tournament bracket and start the first round.

 

Looking forward to see you all!

 

EDIT: We decided to extend the signup for 5 days. We are doing the pairings on 14th September.

Just to clarify the statement:

"If the match is tied, 25 minute games with 5 seconds per move until one player scores 1,5 points."

Means the best of 2 games right?

Likewise from the semis onwards,
"If the match is tied, 45 minute games with 5 seconds per move until one player scores 2,5 points."

Means the best of 4 games.

What happens if again the match will be tied ?
