Michael Adams won the tie breaks of the 98^th British Chess Championship in Sheffield. Adams and 2^nd place finisher Nigel Short both scored 8,5/11.

Their individual match was a very interesting and hard fought Giuoco Piano in round 8, that eventually was drawn.

The Tie break format was 2 games with 20 minutes plus 10 minutes per move. The first game with Short playing white was drawn, Adams managed to convincingly win a Caro-Kann in the second game to clinch his 4^th British title.
